For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?
Well… we usually describe ourselves as a ‘Fuzz Punk Duo’, but we don’t really know if we fit into a specific genre. Our music has elements of punk, hardcore, riot grrrl, doom, and sometimes, Brazilian music inspired elements, which on paper sounds like we don’t know what we’re doing, but when you listen to it, it kinda works.
If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would it be?
We have released 3 albums, and we like all of them. Perhaps, at this moment, our latest album “Duality” is more relevant, and representative of what you can expect from our live show. Now if we had to pick 3 songs to give you an overview of our sound, we’d say Anhangá, Say Say and New Beginnings.
You recently released your new album, Duality. Can we expect to hear a lot of those songs in your set this year?
Hell yeah. We still play some of the ‘classics’, but songs from “Duality” have fit really nicely into our sets, and we feel that even people that never seen us before, seem to instantly connect with the music.
Are there any bands you’re particularly excited to see over the weekend?
That’s always a difficult answer… We haven’t done our clash finder yet, but we tend to watch more bands on the introducing stage, and support the bands we’ve seen or played with before.
What else are you up to this year?
It’s been a great year so far. We have about 40 dates in total. We’re heading to Austria to play Sauzipf Rocks right after Rebellion, we’re also playing HRH Punk, Punktoberfest, Rising Festival, Tannerfest, Punk’n’Roll Rendezvous and we’re supporting some great bands like the UK Subs, Theatre of Hate, Dawn After Dark.
Yur Mum will be performing on the Empress stage, on the Thursday of this years Rebellion Festival – tickets and info here.
