Honey Joy are bringing their hook-laden brand of pop-punk from London to MPF once again this year, and I couldn’t be happier. Fronted by vocalist Meg Tinsley, Honey Joy have perfectly mastered the art of infectious melodies combined with honest, intelligent lyrics.

Read on to see what Meg had to say about their special extra set on Saturday night, as well as what the band have planned for later in the year.

For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?

Garage Punk but more melodies?

If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would it be?

 Future or Diversion Tactics

What can we expect from your set at MPF?

We’re always so excited to be at MPF so we’ll bring the energy, ready to have fun! We will do a mixed set of songs from different records but with a few new songs. We’re also doing a Saturday cover set after Grafteoke as The Distillers, I can’t wait.

Are there any bands you’re particularly excited to see over the weekend?

Martha, Cosmit, Social Club. Also, we’re billed together with Erica Freas and Supermilk at YES on Saturday, lushhhh.

What else are you up to this year – any tours/festivals/releases you want to tell us about?

Got our album coming out this summer on Everything Sucks Records! So lots being announced soon; record release show in London, tour, singles, and new videos.

Thank you so much to Meg for answering these questions. Honey Joy will be playing at Yes! on the Saturday of MPF, at 17:15. It’s worth sticking around though, as their Distillers cover set will be at Rebellion, at 00:20.
