In collaboration with German music collective All My Ghosts, Leipzig based singer Elfyn releases a new album, Anam Cara.
Well known for DIY touring as half of Maw Maw or even LYNT, Elfyn utilizes solo excursions to push the boundaries of electro pop.
Anam cara, which in Irish means ‘Soul Friend’, is nine songs of ethereal space age beats. One of which, ‘Y Poco A Poco’, features Holger Himmelblau on the ultrasonic harp for almost 9 minutes of a Björk-esque playground.
Some people play scales on the piano, Elfyn plays with the sound and speed of her voice. A great example of the varied timing would be in the last song of the album, ‘Cheer Me On’.
In her finale ‘Cheer Me On’ Elfyn utilizes the voices of her friends and family to form a chorus of her biggest supporters in her musical journey.
“Anam Cara is a tribute. To the platonic relationship that can be a source of comfort and strength. The friendship that gives refuge after times of separation and anger.”
