Do you ever wonder who you could have been or what you could have done if life had taken you in another direction? Another life, a second chance, lived radically under another sky.

South London-based quartet, Another Sky, asks ‘what could have been?’ with every song in their new album, Beach Day. Brimming with metaphors and layered sound, Beach Day‘s 13 tracks just crashed onto the scene – released by Fiction Records in the UK and Republican Records in North America.

Another Sky’s Beach Day album draws you in with inviting beats and catchy melodies. If you are a fan of the Black Kids band, ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You,’ you will love Another Sky.

Beach Day begins with Another Sky’s newest single, ‘The Pain’. The song inspires energy to all who listen, and the fun accompanying video pokes fun at the one place having energy is not acceptable: the office.

“’The Pain’ is about looking back at your younger self with humour, compassion and fondness. It’s about missing the naivety of youth as well as embracing the wisdom of growing older, finally understanding why you’re drawn to people who hurt you. It’s an ode to living and thanking dramatic events for the lessons they teach you instead of wallowing in your mistakes.”

Vocalist Catrin Vincent, Another Sky

The first few songs on the album stay true to their progressive rock roots. These are the gentle waves before the storm. After ‘A Feeling,’ the entire album picks up speed, swelling with the current until the notes are coming faster and faster.

Fans of alternative rock will love ‘Death of the Author,’ as the lead vocalist’s voice balances on the knife edge of yelling before crashing into screaming.

My absolute favorite song off the album was actually the last one, ‘Swirling Smoke’. At more than five minutes long, it’s begging to be played on a loop.
