Irish multi-talented musician Trophy Wife (Ruby Smyth), impresses once again with her new indie-rock single, ‘Drug Dog’.

The understated song begins with a relaxing opening guitar riff, easing you into melodious folk melodies. But don’t be fooled by the softer edge of the song, as halfway through we are given a glimpse of a 70s rock sound with drums that pack a punch, and heavy guitar. Trophy Wife’s euphonious voice is the thing which ties the song together, particularly the final chorus’ angelic backing vocals which elevate the song and round it off in a memorable way.

Ultimately, the song is about devotion. How that can be such a beautiful thing to build any relationship upon but can quickly turn corrupt if the other person is willing to take advantage of your loyalty
