Out now from Brooklyn post-punk trio Creek and Kills: ‘Swelter’.
Singer-bassist Kate Bell comes from a background in jazz. Formerly known as the Reverse Engineers, the band renamed themselves Creek and Kills this past spring in homage to the nearby Superfund site, Newtown Creek. Drawing inspiration from the upheaval of politics, war, and love in the present moment and distant past, their songs explore the conflict and questions of living in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, as well as the creepiness of what could be lurking in urban toxic waters.
