“Pistol Pete is about my life as a basketball player. Growing up I devoted my life to basketball. I wanted to be in the WNBA, which back then was brand new. When I quit after playing a year at Cal, Berkeley, it was like the ground opened up beneath me and all of these new things – movies, books, parties – were flying at me and I didn’t know what to do or who I was. It’s taken me a long time to embrace and love the athlete in me. I dream about playing ball all the time, and that’s alright.”
