“‘Shocked!’ is a song I wrote about dating the nice guy. The sweet, charismatic guy that everyone likes. He gets along with your friends, your family likes him, and he always makes a good first impression. Yet, he broke your heart worse than anyone else. And when you finally let people see behind the curtain, they are so shocked that he would ever be toxic. I had seen the warning signs for months, so I wasn’t as shocked. But everyone else was.”
