‘Reverie’ is the 10th single from up-and-coming Japanese-British Berkshire-based band Re:O.
Mixing J-pop with alternative rock and goth pop, ‘Reverie’ is about reminiscing about someone when they are gone, recalling the memories, and ultimately wishing them well. It starts out quite bittersweet, with a mesmerising melody played on the synth, feeling a little eerie, before the instrumental dives into a full rock instrumental, with delicate lyrics sung in Japanese.
Lead vocals are clear, strong and powerful, and the accompanying instruments add a lot of drive to the song. This song came at the perfect time: in the middle of winter, filled with nostalgia and reminiscence.
Re:O is made up of Rio Suyama on vocals/ synth, Alex Carli on guitar, James Wright on bass and James Stevens on drums.
