With LOUD WOMEN Fest Halifax coming up on Saturday 24 October, Cassie Fox joined East Coast DNA for a chat about why Nova Scotia has become such an important part of the LOUD WOMEN story.
The conversation starts with this year’s Fest at The Seahorse Tavern and our ten-artist lineup, before heading back to how LOUD WOMEN grew from a London DIY night in 2015 into an international community putting on events around the world.
A big part of that story is Nova Scotia. Cassie talks about discovering the scene through Nova Scotia Music Week, the connections and friendships that grew from that first visit, and why Halifax felt like exactly the right place for LOUD WOMEN’s first Canadian Fest.
There’s plenty about the artists playing this year too, including BURRY, Warlet, Freya Milliken, Altered by Mom and Penny & The Pits, as well as the story behind We, Cassie, the special transatlantic collaboration being put together for Halifax.
Cassie and East Coast DNA also get into how LOUD WOMEN lineups are put together, why local volunteers and community are such a huge part of making the Fests work, and what happens when those relationships start connecting scenes on opposite sides of the world.
