We live in a world where genuine connections feel harder and harder to find. We interact through screens and watch other people’s lives from a distance, sometimes forgetting what it feels like to get a hug, laugh out loud with the people we love, feel the sun on our faces or simply curl up with our pets.
Against this backdrop, the new video from London trio Shooting Daggers is a breath of fresh air. T.R.L.T., short for The Real Life Thing, is taken from the band’s mini-album of the same name, released last June via New Heavy Sounds.
“T.R.L.T. is an invite to keep focusing on what’s real and tangible, genuine relationships with people, animals and the planet.” — Shooting Daggers
The track fuses the intensity of hardcore with a more experimental edge, recalling the post-hardcore of At the Drive-In, with sudden shifts in rhythm, samples and unpredictable structures. It’s a burst of energy that champions self-love and the importance of staying connected to what really matters.
To accompany it, Sal, Bea and Raquel have brought together memories from the past three years: frantic gigs, tours, recording sessions, cities they’ve visited, friendships and small everyday moments. The result is a collage of spontaneous footage, rough textures and boundless energy that captures both the adrenaline of the stage and the closeness the band shares off it. Far from being just a tour diary, the video celebrates the bonds formed along the way and, as the band puts it, a love for each other that goes beyond friendship.
Because, in the end, real life isn’t on the other side of a screen. It’s in the people, places and moments we share. And Shooting Daggers remind us that life is worth experiencing together.
