Just in time for Halloween, Sister Ghost are preparing to unleash The Undead Tapes!, a new live album arriving on Wednesday 28 October, alongside a special performance video for ‘New Age Witch’. And there’s even more excitement on the horizon, as the Derry-born rock powerhouse heads to Japan next month to play LOUD WOMEN Fest Tokyo!
The musical project of Shannon Delores O’Neill, Sister Ghost have become one of Ireland’s most exciting alternative rock acts, combining grunge guitars, infectious power-pop melodies and a fiercely independent feminist spirit.
Following the acclaim for their debut album Beyond The Water, The Undead Tapes! captures the energy that earned Sister Ghost the NI Music Prize for Best Live Act. Recorded at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, with a bonus track recorded at the Silverlake Lounge on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, the album brings the band’s electrifying live sound to listeners everywhere.
And what better song to celebrate its arrival than ‘New Age Witch’? With its feminist and queer themes of identity, self-discovery and liberation, not to mention that wonderfully spooky title, it’s the perfect soundtrack for Halloween week.
A special live performance video for ‘New Age Witch’ premieres on Sister Ghost’s YouTube channel at 8pm on Wednesday 28 October. Watch it here:
The Undead Tapes! follows the critically acclaimed Beyond The Water, which was shortlisted for Album of the Year at the 2025 NI Music Prize. Sister Ghost have also shared stages with Snow Patrol, Fontaines D.C. and Pussy Riot, earning a reputation for powerful live performances and uncompromising songwriting.
And there’s another reason we’re particularly excited about Sister Ghost right now: they’re coming to LOUD WOMEN Fest Tokyo!
Shannon and the band head to Japan in November for three shows, culminating in our very first Asian festival, presented in collaboration with Too Hot to Be Cool at Shinjuku MARZ on 14 November.
Speaking about the trip, Shannon says:
“It’s an honor to be the first of my family tree to travel to Japan, I never in a million years thought it would happen, nevermind being invited there for my music! Myself and the band are really looking forward to it and I will be flying the flag for Derry for sure.”
The tour has received support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s SIAP Travel Fund.
