Get in loser, we’re going around the world! 💋
This November, LOUD WOMEN Fest Australia is hitting the road, bringing musicians together from opposite sides of the planet and across Australian state lines for three incredible days of live music in Gadigal, Naarm and Meanjin.
The plan? Put brilliant bands in front of new audiences, connect DIY music scenes, make some lifelong friends and hopefully remember where we parked the van.
Five bands are playing all three Fests, with a different collection of local and interstate artists joining them at every stop. Here’s who’s coming along for the ride.
Meet the bands
IRKED are coming all the way from Newcastle upon Tyne in North-East England, bringing ferocious punk, biting political commentary and their blistering debut album The Grievance. Expect big riffs, righteous fury and absolutely no patience for bullshit. They’ve got quite the journey ahead of them, but we’re totally sure Australian audiences will give them a warm welcome.
I, Doris are flying in from London with their feminist kitchenpunk anthems, a keytar and probably a completely unreasonable amount of luggage. The LOUD WOMEN house band have spent years turning everyday experiences of womanhood into funny, furious, singalong punk songs. Now they’re bringing the Doris revolution to all three cities. Australia, get ready to take the Pledge of Doris again.
Second Idol are based in Gadigal and have already had an extraordinary LOUD WOMEN year, touring the UK and Ireland and playing our Fests in Dublin and London, plus shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Brighton. Their dark, grunge-soaked post-punk draws on feminism, identity and resistance, with their debut album Mongrel showcasing just how powerful they are. Kate Farquharson has also been instrumental in organising our Gadigal Fest, so they’re family now.
The Maggie Pills are bringing their fierce collision of post-punk, grunge and alternative rock from Naarm. They’re a force of nature on stage, and vocalist Delfi Sorondo is also helping organise our Naarm Fest alongside Ebonnie from Daddy Issues. From their home turf to two more cities, The Maggie Pills are helping connect the Australian DIY scene in exactly the way LOUD WOMEN was built to do.
Vipersnatch are heading out from Darumbal Country with their raw, unapologetic feminist punk. Lily, Riley and Kailee make music that’s loud, confrontational and impossible to ignore. Drummer Riley Doherty is also part of the team putting together our first-ever Meanjin Fest, alongside Georgia from Whoroboros. They’re taking their music across state lines while helping create opportunities for other artists along the way.
Three cities, three different lineups
The travelling five will be joined by a different lineup of brilliant local and interstate artists at every stop. Across the three Fests, we’re bringing together 23 artists, spanning punk, hardcore, post-punk, riot grrrl, grunge, indie and plenty more.

This is what LOUD WOMEN is all about. Not just putting on gigs, but helping artists find new audiences, supporting the people already doing brilliant things in their local scenes and making connections that don’t end when everyone packs up their equipment.
Come for the bands you know. Leave with several new favourites, a few new friends and a lot of new band tshirts.
