Today, LOUD WOMEN is honoured to premiere Montreal singer-songwriter Vikki Gilmore’s latest single, ‘Cowboy’.
Written for a late relative who lived the cowboy life on a Montana ranch and loved Elvis and spaghetti westerns, ‘Cowboy’ is a heartfelt folk-pop tribute that explores grief, memory and tender storytelling. Gilmore turns a deeply personal loss into a song that can offer comfort to others navigating their own grief.
Gilmore shares the following with LOUD WOMEN:
“This song was never supposed to be released. I’ve always used songwriting to process big complicated feelings and grief is one of them. When a loved one passed away unexpectedly, this song was the outpouring of my grief. It was the song I sang at his funeral. My hope with this release is that it reaches whichever heavy heart needs it at the moment to help with their grief. As for what’s to come: a lot more writing and more “cowboy” themed releases!“
