South Africa-born, Australia-based musician and poet Ruby Gill releases her third album Fishing is not about fishing.
Co-produced with Tom Iansek in London at Crowe’s Nest Studio, alongside bandmates Lewis Coleman and Jess Ellwood, Fishing is not about fishing casts a line into the pond of real life. Gill navigates the existential ripples that surface along the way, finding ways to survive the harshness of the world without getting lost in it.
Through witty reflections and sharp observations, Gill captures life as it is right now, with vignettes of existential dread, queer joy and political frustration, all tangled up in the everyday experience of being human. The album comes alive through Gill’s lead vocals, recorded live with the band.
