Rising Brooklyn indie-pop artist Nathalie Miller shares ‘you’re in my bed’, taken from her debut album i’d like to think you saved me, out 13 November.

Within a dreamy soundscape, Miller uses vivid storytelling to capture the lingering presence of a past love, and how reminders of someone can follow you everywhere, even after a relationship ends.

“‘you’re in my bed’ is about being haunted by someone everywhere you go, even though they’re not actually there. Like ‘you’re in my bed’ even when you’re not. When this relationship I was writing about ended, literally everything reminded me of her, even things that had nothing to do with her.”

Miller also reflects on the hope of running into someone after a relationship ends, and the feeling that seeing them again might change things.

“I talk to my friends and they’re like ‘this city is too small, I constantly run into my ex,’ so I kept waiting for something like that to happen, but when a relationship or friendship ends, I somehow never seem to see them again. Even if we run in the same circles. One time, when I was seeing this girl, I ran into her three times in one week, and then we ended things and I literally never saw her again. It’s both a blessing and a curse. This song was kinda when I was still hoping to run into the person I wrote it about, like just seeing each other would change things.”
