Southern California band Death Valley Girls share Welcome to Earth, an album born from the devastating wildfires that tore through the region, destroying lead singer Bonnie Bloomgarden’s home in Altadena. After losing her home and, soon after, her beloved dog Tommy, Bloomgarden found strength in the people around her.
Featuring drummer Bailey Chapman, guitarist Laena Myers, bassist Alana Amram, saxophonist Sarah Safaie and keyboardist Gregg Foreman, who tragically passed away not long after, Welcome to Earth reflects the unbreakable bond between the band members. The album is also the final recording to feature Foreman’s contributions. Bloomgarden shares:
“I don’t think this record could have been made with any other group of people.”
Longtime collaborator Laura “The Kid” Kelsey returns alongside Little Ghost, who contributes backing vocals throughout the record, creates the album artwork and remains a constant creative influence in the studio and on the road. Welcome to Earth also features acclaimed jazz vocalist and multi-Grammy-nominated artist Gretchen Parlato.
Blending psychedelic rock with girl-group harmonies and communal chants, Welcome to Earth transforms personal pain into a collective experience. Its sing-along spirit captures the resilience it takes to face devastation and find hope again. More than an album about loss, it celebrates the people who help us carry on, finding healing in the solidarity of community and the shared joy of rock and roll.
