Charley Stone. Actual legend. 💋
If you’ve spent any time in London’s independent music scene, you’ll almost certainly have encountered Charley. She’s played in approximately ALL THE BANDS, and there’s a very good reason for that: she’s an absolutely phenomenal musician, a guitar virtuoso and, perhaps most importantly, a fantastic egg.
This is definitely not the first time Charley has graced a LOUD WOMEN stage, and it definitely won’t be the last. We’re delighted to have her joining us at the wonderful Bread & Roses in Clapham on Wednesday 4 November.
All the bands, all the talent
From Sleeper and Salad to countless beloved indie and DIY projects, Charley has spent decades making other people’s music sound incredible. But her own songwriting deserves just as much attention.
Her project, Charley Stone with the Actual Band (Actual Band not included this time), combines sharp, funny, heartwarming and beautifully observant songwriting with irresistible indie-pop melodies, fuzzy garage-rock guitars and some frankly ridiculous guitar virtuosity.
Charley’s songs are witty, honest, full of heart and occasionally devastating, often all at once. There’s a wonderfully human quality to her music: the little absurdities of everyday life, the awkwardness of relationships, the things we all think but don’t always say out loud.
Her debut album, Here Comes The Actual Band, is packed with glorious guitar hooks, humour, tenderness and proper indie-rock brilliance. We loved it so much we gave it a glowing review on LOUD WOMEN.
Join us on 4 November
Charley joins two more much-loved friends of LOUD WOMEN: MIRI, bringing soulful rebel pop, warmth and wit, and x-blu, with their distinctive, deliciously strange avant-garde post-punk.
Three brilliant artists, three very different sets, and one of our favourite London venues. The Bread & Roses is female-run, union-owned and an absolute delight. We can’t think of a better place to spend a Wednesday evening.
