Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Shannon Lay releases her new album, Past The Veil, via her own label, All The Best.

Embracing the unknown and leaning into discomfort, the album pairs delicate arrangements with Lay’s intimate vocals, looking towards the light even in darker moments and finding beauty in rebirth. Lay shares:

“I wanted to make something that was a little more uplifting and really encouraging. I wanted to impart a sense of togetherness by gathering members of my creative community to channel the spirit of what wanted to be made.”

Alongside releasing Past The Veil, Lay shares ‘The Calling’, a reflection of her journey of self-discovery and the inner battles we face along the way.

“The Calling urges you to remember who you are.I think that’s all life is to a certain extent, it’s a great remembering. It can feel like your downfalls define you, but they’re really just there to teach you valuable information about yourself. Every day is an opportunity to center your love and curiosity. We see each other before we see ourselves in those moments sometimes, and I love to remind people to recognize their light. We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.”

An album built on perseverance, Past The Veil reflects a period of change for Lay. After parting ways with her previous record label, she learned to trust herself and not lose faith in her community. The album is the first release from her new artist-run label, All The Best, where her own music will be issued alongside work from some of her friends.
