Bad Mary have been kicking up a racket on Long Island for more than a decade, but Mouth Fulla Fire sounds like a band striking a fresh match. The first single from upcoming album Stitched takes social media burnout, doomscrolling and the endless drip-feed of online negativity and gives the whole lot something it badly needs: guitars, volume and somewhere to go.
Which makes perfect sense for Bad Mary. This is a band far more interested in packed rooms, local scenes and people actually sharing music than staring into the abyss of another feed.
Musically, this track lands somewhere between garage punk, glam punk, hard rock and power pop, without stopping to worry about where one ends and the next begins. The drums hit hard, with a dry, explosive snare that carries a glorious ’80s thwack, while bass and guitar lock in and drive everything forward. Amanda Mac is the spark in the petrol: cheeky, theatrical and armed with enough punk attitude to keep things nicely unruly. Think flashes of Pat Benatar, The Priscillas and The Donnas, then add amps, sweat and Bad Mary’s obvious determination to have a very good time.

The video wisely keeps things simple too, letting the band’s energy and Amanda’s larger-than-life presence take centre stage.
There’s plenty burning in the lyrics, but this isn’t fire for fire’s sake. Messages pile up, noise closes in and frustration eventually blows. “I can’t even hear my radio” might be the song’s sharpest line: everything is shouting, and somewhere along the way you lose track of what you actually wanted to hear.
By the time the chorus hits and that final barrage of “burn” takes over, explanation is beside the point. The anger has become release, loud, messy and shared.
If Mouth Fulla Fire is our first proper look at Stitched, Bad Mary’s Frankenstein is already showing signs of life.
