South Wales punk band The NaNaz are about to reach their biggest audience yet, with their incredible journey from women-over-50 music workshops to LOUD WOMEN Fest NYC captured in a new BBC One documentary.

Our Lives: The NaNaz – Age Against the Machine will be shown on BBC One at 7.30pm on Friday 7 August. It is already available on iPlayer, so you can watch it now for a glimpse ahead of next week’s television broadcast.

The documentary follows the six women as they juggle jobs, caring responsibilities and everyday life while preparing for the biggest opportunity of their musical journey so far: travelling to New York for their first international performance at LOUD WOMEN Fest.

LOUD WOMEN is woven throughout the programme, as the band prepare for the trip, make their way from South Wales to New York and finally take to the stage at Main Drag in Brooklyn.

It has been an incredible journey from community workshops to a stage in New York and now primetime BBC One. We have a feeling The NaNaz are about to become household names, and we could not be more excited for them.

Even more exciting is thinking about how many other women might be inspired when they see their story. Women who have been made to feel that they are too old, too busy or simply too late to start making music will see six women doing exactly that, and taking their band all the way across the Atlantic.

That is exactly why LOUD WOMEN exists: to put more women on more stages, create opportunities that might not otherwise exist, and show that there is no correct age or route into music.
