LOUD WOMEN is thrilled to announce Chicago-based singer-songwriter Savanna Ruth’s debut album The Baseball Diaries, due out 23 October via Easy Does It Records. Alongside the announcement, she shares the album’s sun-soaked lead single ‘Bad Thoughts’.
Formerly recognised for her work under the alias Burr Oak, The Baseball Diaries marks Savanna’s long-awaited debut under her own name. The album navigates the emotional aftermath of a long-term relationship ending, the rush of new lust and love, and the journey of stepping into the person she was always meant to become.
‘Bad Thoughts’ explores complicated relationships, temptation, and confronting the hidden parts of yourself, setting the emotional tone for The Baseball Diaries. Savanna shares:
“This was written during one of the most confusing and emotionally complicated periods of my life. At the time, I was in the midst of a long-term relationship with my ex-fiancée. We were in the beginning stages of trying to navigate being in an open relationship, and for the first time I found myself developing a very real and intense attraction to another woman. It wasn’t just a harmless crush—it was something I thought about constantly, and it forced me to confront parts of myself that I had been avoiding.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Todd Diederich, was filmed across Chicago locations including Wrigley Field and Thillens Stadium. Drawing from nostalgic memories of childhood Little League games and warm summer nights, the video captures the heart and heat of the city.
