Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter V Torres shares ‘Winter Solstice’, the latest preview of her upcoming sophomore album Woman, due for independent release on 1 September.

Written for a close friend following the loss of their brother, ‘Winter Solstice’ extends a hand of comfort through the darkness of grief. Torres reflects:

“This is a track I wrote when a very close friend of mine had lost her brother to a tragic accident. I was in a position of wanting to console and be there for them, but there really was nothing I could do for them at the time. These words came out fast and the song was written on the Winter Solstice, hence the name.”

‘Winter Solstice’ is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, light will eventually appear on the horizon.

“I wanted this song to embody that feeling of being there for someone who’s always there for everyone else. I think in some part of this it was also giving myself that love. Knowing that you can love someone from afar and you can love yourself and hold yourself up even when you’re feeling alone.”
