Brooklyn-based (via Los Angeles) songwriter, engineer, broadcaster, and community organizer Leilani Patao shares ‘what’, the final preview of daisy deluxe, out 24 July via Audio Antihero. The deluxe edition of Patao’s debut EP, daisy, features three previously unreleased songs, alongside remixes by Tom the Destroyer , Jeni Magaña , Benjamin Shaw, and others.
Tackling political apathy, fear, and the importance of speaking up when others remain silent, ‘what’ feels painfully relevant right now. Patao explains:
“I wrote this song a few years ago when I felt my most frozen. I felt really powerless and I felt terrified of what could happen if I started putting these stances into my songs.”
A powerful call to action, ‘what’ finds Patao using their voice and art to encourage others to take action.
“I think the funny thing about this song is that I may be singing, ‘I’m begging you, please,’ but I’m no longer begging. I am telling you to do something. Do anything at all.
Leilani Patao
I hope this song makes you want to meet someone new. I hope it makes you want to help someone out who needs you. I hope you make the world safer, even for just one person.”
