Australian singer-songwriter Jael shares ‘Hallowed Ground’, the latest glimpse of her debut EP Mama Says, out 31 July.
Pulling from personal experience, the track explores unresolved grief and the ache of loving someone from afar. Heartbreakingly beautiful yet deeply relatable. Jael shares:
“This song is really personal and cuts deep for me. I wrote it about a family member who I was really close to growing up, but haven’t seen for the last few years, which has been really painful for our family. I think lots of people can relate to being ‘ghosted’ for all sorts of reasons.
I wrote this song with the legendary Eg White in London, and I think we both knew it was special the day we wrote it. If one person listens to ‘Hallowed Ground’ and it helps them as much as it has helped me, then I’ll be happy. I’m sending it into the world with love.”
