LOUD WOMEN founder Cassie Fox was delighted to host a Q&A with Molly Tie at the London launch of her brilliant new book Rebel Grrrls this week.
Held at Rough Trade Denmark Street, the event gave Molly the chance to talk about the extensive research behind the book and the stories she uncovered while tracing the history of women in punk. What makes Rebel Grrrls particularly refreshing is its focus not just on the musicians, but on the fans, organisers, writers, activists and scene-builders whose contributions are so often overlooked in traditional music histories.

Punk has always been about more than the people on stage, and Molly’s book captures that beautifully. Throughout the evening, she spoke passionately about the women who helped create and sustain punk communities, often without receiving the recognition they deserved.
The audience was treated to a fascinating discussion about the evolution of punk, the role of women within it, and why these stories matter now more than ever.
Rebel Grrrls: The Real Story of Women and Punk is out now via Omnibus Press, and Molly’s book tour continues across the UK.
