South Arcade

As preparation for a summer of festivals South Arcade release a new single ‘DEADMEAT. An unapologetic pop-rock love song that encourages you to choose each other no matter what. This single feels like a 2000s Avril Lavigne hit but with a little extra grunge that adds the special touch of texture.

At one point or another you might have felt like peoples opinions have ruled over your choices too much. And if you have then this song is for you. The reference here to “deadmeat” seems to be of someone who doesn’t fit in to the boxes that are expected of them, hence why the song starts with wanting to erase who you are. To build a life with someone who you feel protected by, whilst at the same time unsure of how much you can trust them as lyrics “please protect me” are repeated through out the song.

The band described this new single:

“We went into writing wanting to tell a sort of modern Romeo and Juliet story (but with a less depressing ending), and we left with DEADMEAT. It has this reckless optimism about it where the two characters’ worlds shouldn’t really overlap but they’ve found each other regardless – they want to escape all of that noise, steal a car and leave town. It had this ‘us against the world’ energy that we loved.”

Whilst this song might at times seem a little chaotic due to its change in riffs and Harmony’s unique ability to change pace through her vocals. Its definitely one of the very few love stories that is consistently positive towards the lover in the story.
