New York City-based pop singer-songwriter Melanie Herrera releases her debut album, A Fearful & Wondrous Thing.

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Herrera was raised in a musical household by her Mexican and Argentine parents. After early training in ballet and choir, she pursued acting and later moved to Los Angeles before returning to the East Coast to focus on songwriting in New York.

Many listeners first discovered Herrera through her viral “Nepo Baby Vocal Warm-Ups” series, created alongside her husband. Now, Herrera enters a new chapter with her debut album, a collection shaped by her self-described “storybook-pop” sound, where diary-like lyrics, magical imagery and vivid storytelling blur the line between fairytales and real life.

“This record is an arrival—both to life and to myself as an artist. I’m a late bloomer who spent years believing I wasn’t someone who could accomplish great things, which kept me rooted in anxiety and self-doubt. These songs came after I finally broke free of that story, and they reflect a life lived in full, complete with love, grief, mystery, joy, and all the beautiful chaos of being alive.”

Latest single ‘I Think I Lied’ is where romantic lightness and playfulness tangle with underlying tension.

“’I Think I Lied’ is a sexy, playful contradiction about the moment you realize you didn’t quite mean your goodbye, and how easy it is to romanticize something you meant to let go.”
