Massachusetts-based Jennifer Tefft & The Strange just released their newest single, ‘Silver’ following the 2024 release of their debut album Strange Beginnings. On this track, the band has deliberately pushed their boundaries to create a sound that balances their alternative grit with a more polished, driving anthem structure. Vocalist Jennifer Tefft has shifted towards a more modern, mainstream rock vocal style on this track rather than a raw, underground howl that has been a trademark for her. The rhythm section, comprised of Chris Jost on drums and Stephen “Sharky” Beccia on bass, anchor the song with a heavy, steady rhythm that features a mainstream rock groove that gives the song its anthemic pacing. Guitarist, John Parrillo provides the atmospheric glue to the track with his distinct guitar playing. The song leans towards a cleaner rock sound but the band still maintains their rock and roll edge with layered guitar textures, biting riffs, and one powerful, energetic bridge.
When discussing ‘Silver,’ Tefft talked about how folks close to her were going through tough times and the need to stay strong, remain positive, and look for the silver linings:
“I constantly look for silver linings — the world is dark and scary these days,” Tefft admits. “I find silver linings in the simple things and moments of simple joy or beauty.”
Whether they are playing for an intimate crowd or aiming for the big stage, ‘Silver’ proves that Jennifer Tefft and The Strange can evolve without losing an ounce of their signature grit.
