Eaves Wilder

Eaves Wilder deftly slides into listeners’ ears with dreamlike ease in her new single, ‘Hurricane Girl’. A welcome breath of fresh air in the male-dominated 90s shoegaze genre, Wilder continues the work of artists like Kelli Ali of Sneaker Pimps by announcing her femininity from the first note, prompting you to rethink what the genre really is and to resurrect it.

“This is my go at cock rock. I love Pearl Jam, I love Janes Addiction, I love Stone Temple Pilots, Sound Garden, Aerosmith. I love how swaggering and soaring they sound. The first time I ever listened to Pearl Jam, I was up a mountain, and I wanted to make mountain music too. Songs with elemental scale.”

Wilder takes her shot at creating that mountain like the greats and succeeds with compelling results. Her voice, airy and soft, sits just above the clouds, creating the perfect foil for the grounding guitar strums and searing drum strikes just behind her. The finished product leaves you feeling weightless and free, even amongst turmoil below.

I wasn’t having a nervous breakdown; I was just a hurricane making a whirlwind. I am not stubborn, I’m a mountain. Clouds aren’t pathetic when they cry, so why am I?”

The song is just the second taste of her debut album ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, which is set to drop on April 17th. The album promises to build on Wilder’s desire to create mountains and expand it into a whole world where quiet composure provides a soothing balm to modernity, conformity, and banality.
