A LOUD WOMEN Spotlight interview with MERE AMORE, ahead of their LOUD WOMEN performance at the Peer Hat in Manchester on 29 Nov
How did you choose your band name?
We started with MERE MORTALS, but it came off too heavy and intense—even for us. So we stripped it back, kept the MERE, and injected AMORE. It captures exactly who we are and what we throw at each other and the crowd: raw humanity, a little grit, and a whole lot of heart. MERE AMORE hits that perfect balance.
Who’s in the band, and what do you all play?
Isola (she/they) – lead singer/ lyricist, Emma (they/them) rhythm guitar, Jess (she/her) lead guitar, El (she/her) bassist, Nathaniel (he/him) drummer.
Where do you call home (geographically and musically)?
Geographically, we come from across the UK — Emma from Stockport, El from Wakefield, Nathaniel from Barnsley, Isola from Telford, and Jess from Bristol. But we all met in Manchester, and that’s where our sound truly calls home. We carry the Northern spirit and influence, drawing from the city’s underground alt scene and blending it with our diverse tastes to create a fusion that’s raw, authentic, and us.
Describe your sound in three words.
Cathartic! Raw! PassionATE!
Tell us about your music
Our latest release ‘MICROMAC’ is our second single and dives into a wide range of themes that resonate with today’s social and political climate — from mental health and the erosion of humanism in politics to existential reflection, all with a sharp call to “open your eyes with cocktail sticks.” The track hits hard with driving guitars, pounding drums, and spoken-word lyrics, layered over soaring melodies and haunting string hooks. MICROMAC is out now on all streaming platforms, give it a listen!
What’s the proudest moment you’ve had so far as a band/artist?
Our proudest moment would definitely be sharing the stage with Lambrini Girls and GetDown Services for DIY Magazine in London. It was very surreal (a pinch me moment for sure), electrifying, and addictive. The high after that gig has pushed us to want to climb higher and chase it all over again.
What’s a dream gig or collaboration you must make happen before you die?
DREAM GIG: main stage download/ primavera festival/ supporting wolf alice, thornhill or Die Spitz and of COURSE, LOUD WOMEN Fest Berlin 2026!!
Dream lineup: you + three other acts (alive, dead, or imaginary). Who’s on the bill?
El dream collab: Scowl, SOAD, QOTSA. Jess dream collab: Witchfever, Die Spitz, STONE. Emma dream collab: Joy Division, Talking Heads, Black Country New Road (with issac wood). Isola dream collab: Dead Poet Society, Die Spitz, Deftones. Nathaniel dream collab: Volumes, Tesseract, Meshuggah.
What’s next for you?
We are just about to hit the studio to record our debut EP, dropping early next year. Blending our oldest and newest material, the records explore addiction, grief, and identity, transforming raw experiences into something powerful and beautiful. We’ve taken a step back from gigging and completely reset our social media, we are back with a refined image and fresh momentum. Our EP marks a new chapter for us, and we can’t wait to put it out in the world for people to hear it!!
Where can people listen, follow, and support your music?
Our first two singles are out now on all streaming platforms! Follow our official Instagram @mere.amore for band updates. Also, our new private instagram account @amoreofmereamore for all the BTS chaos.
Anything else you’d like to add?
A HUGGGGGE huge thank you for having us at your first Manchester show! We really appreciate it and can’t wait to meet you all and get to know you better!! Thanks again MERE AMORE XXX
