CHROMA - photo by Natasha Winge

CHROMA stormed The Boileroom stage, and ‘Don’t Mind Me’ is still stuck in my head. The Welsh trio are out on tour with Bilk, having a properly lush time. The run is funded by the Music Venue Trust – shining a light on the importance of independent venues.

From the first drum hit, frontwoman Katie Hall was everywhere – skipping, strutting, swinging the mic stand around and never missing a note. She was funny and warm between songs, getting the crowd laughing one minute and fired up the next. At one point she paused to talk about trans rights, reminding everyone how important it is to protect and speak up for our trans friends, before yelling “fuck JK Rowling!” – which (rightfully) got a massive cheer.

The set was amazing – I just want more.
