Berlin-based Norwegian artist, EERA, has released the final teaser ‘Honey, do you see me?’ from her forthcoming album I’ll stop when I’m done, out 26 September 2025 via Test Card Recordings. It’s a song that mixes the Hollywood glamour of Lana Del Ray with the raw vocals of Pip Bloom, creating a sound that feels fresh and relevant.
You can tell this song is inspired by a film. It describes the sinking feeling of unrequited love in a very cinematic way, aided by fluttering dreampop synths and a moody bassline. The lyrics are heavily inspired by the 1960 film ‘The Apartment’, directed by Billy Wilder.
“I was fascinated by the fact that the main character (an intelligent and beautiful woman) is madly in love with a man who has a wife and the boss of a big company. [..] I wanted to write a song from her side of the story”. – EERA
EERA does a good job at achieving her mission. Lines like “honey do you see me crawling back to my hotel room” and the ending lyrics feel like they are lifted from the depressed diary of the character, Fran. They are also specific enough to feel universal. A talent which reminds me of the way Anouska from Honeyglaze writes her lyrics, by melding together the personal and fictional to create a song that feels relatable to the modern woman.
If you are looking for music to make you feel like the main character on your way home, listen to this new track and keep an eye out for the eventual release of the album, which will continue the theme of exploring Hollywood Golden Era actresses and the lives they led.
