Emerging from the darkness of ‘Pale horse’, B of Briz has one final single before the release of her upcoming EP, Solace, which hits the scene on September 9th. ‘The founding of the town’ is possibly the lightest track on the EP.
B herself had a very concise description of the track:
“a little alt hip hop summers afternoon sunbathing in the park by the bandstand”
The lilting keys and meandering synth over the usual percussion. The entire composition invokes a gauzy and light aura over everything. A much sunnier tune than the previous songs. The slower and more relaxed pacing offers that kind of comfort that comes when you take a moment to take in the world around you.

The way B provides such deep and meaningful lyrics time and time again is something awe-inspiring. The way she infuses her prevalent instrumental style with such a wide array of emotional impacts is also nothing to scoff at.
What I really love about every song so far is the fact that each one loops back to a relationship with the community. Here, B delves into the continuous cycle of creation and how we learn. From grandparent to parent, to offspring, we all have our lessons and something to teach those who come before and after us. A lesson often forgotten or misconstrued to only flow one way, as elders believe that those who come after must bow to their wisdom, or as the youth feel the things taught by those before them are no longer relevant or out of touch. In reality, true learning comes from a cycle of communication. We have a responsibility to learn and teach, to participate in the cycle, to remember that there is more than our experience in order to become a collective of greatness.
