Atlanta punks Upchuck don’t do polite introductions. Their new single Tired kicks off forthcoming album I’m Nice Now (out 3 Oct on Domino) like a Molotov cocktail lobbed straight through your telly. If you’ve ever shouted “I can’t take one more bloody headline” into the void, KT has put that howl to tape for you.

The track rides in on scalding riffs and a beat heavy enough to crush the WiFi router. KT’s delivery is pure venom, spitting lines about empty pockets, political lies, and the relentless churn of injustice – her voice spiralling with the same dizzying inevitability as the 24-hour news cycle. But instead of wallowing in despair, Tired takes aim. When she snarls, “It feels right scaring you,” you believe her.

Produced by Ty Segall at Sonic Ranch and mastered by Heba Kadry, the record is soaked in raw, unfiltered energy – and Tired makes it clear that Upchuck aren’t just raging for the sake of it. This is survival music. It’s rage weaponised into art, into critique, into the kind of noise that refuses to sit quietly while the world burns.

NPR called them “punk Beastie Boys,” Rolling Stone called them “a sonic cannon.” We’ll call them what they are: one of the most vital punk bands on the planet right now. And when they hit the UK this November – including Pitchfork London and Simple Things – you’ll want to be right down the front, shouting until your lungs give out.
