Irish/Portuguese psych-rock quintet pôt-pot have unveiled another single from their forthcoming album, Warsaw 480km, and the delivery of ’22° Halo’ has me spellbound with their signature pôt-pot hypnotics.

Met again with a pôt-pot swirling visualiser, ‘22° Halo’ is infused with chugging bass, a layer of perfected fuzz, and steady, rooted drums. Caught in familiar trappings, this single is about befriending the fiend in the mirror, escaping the inner maelstrom, and seeing who you are on the other side.

I’m fascinated in seemingly endless cycles in nature, and how I can relate that back to myself. At that time, I was repeating habits/cycles that weren’t very good for me, and this song was just a way of me admitting to myself what I was afraid to say out loud: I was doing/thinking/saying things I shouldn’t be and it needed to change. The music came from a jam between the band and grew from there. The night I finalised the lyrics we were walking home from a session and a 22° halo was shining in the sky, it was my first time ever seeing one.”

– lead vocalist, Mark Waldron-Hyden

With measured drone, fuzz, and chant-like vocals, ‘22° Halo’ lingers in the air and casts an impending wave of optimism even in the coldest self-reflections. I can’t wait to see what else pôt-pot has in store for us when Warsaw 480km drops on 19 September via felte.
