Following on from her debut solo album, LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE, which came out last year, Montreal-based Annie-Claude Deschênes returns with her latest single, ‘MAIN DE FER’.
‘MAIN DE FER’ brings a minimalist techno soundscape which feels like a fragmented quartet of different sounds, taking the listener on a journey through the music.
The first half of the track is pure metallic techno, with a futuristic vibe and a slow-burn build-up toward Deschênes’ haunting vocals with an almost electro-pop interlude, before returning to its electronic core toward the end of the song. The distorted vocals go perfectly with the atmospheric beat of the music, creating an effective and mesmerising result.
With this release, Deschênes has certainly solidified herself as “one to watch” as her solo career takes off. Deschênes is soon to perform two gigs in her native Canada, the first on 10 May at Le Minotaure, Gatineau, with a second on 22 June at Sled Island Festival, Calgary.
