Newport, South Wales synth-pop quartet, PARCS, have released a euphorically electric EP on Sleepless.
I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2021 after many years of seeking help,” says Elly of the themes on the record. “It’s a lot better than it was, thankfully, but the flare ups can be brutal, which then affects my mental health. I wasn’t in a very good place when we were writing the songs for ‘sleepless’ so it’s reflected in the lyrics. We don’t seek out to write exclusively sad bangers but it’s just what comes from where we’re at at the time of writing.”
– Elly Sinnett, PARCS lead vocalist
Sleepless opener, ‘pull/push’ is a dreamy 80s synth vulnerability track that shares how deep love can grow when you’re wholly cared for, thorns and all. Showcasing PARCS’s ever-blossoming savviness on composing supportive bops, ‘pull/push’ highlights the kind of comfort we all need.
On our previous coverage of Sleepless’s ‘Red Lines’, PARCS explored the cyclical pain of chronic illness, and ‘Sleepless’ follows that same earnestness into another sobbing banger for those of us with nocturnal struggles. Yet through it all, the tracks of PARCS cast their nets wide to catch you.
Bass-bumping and catchy, EP closer ‘Fever’ is a perfect dance anthem that has just the right amount of flirty abandon and disco haze.
With stunning vocals and showstopping instrumental work, PARCS tracks always enamour listeners. From tears to the dancefloor, PARCS has you covered.
