Minneapolis based singer-songwriter FINICK is a unique talent, releasing their second album Weekends In Purgatory at the age of 18. FINICK (real name Josie Hasnik) mixes their own real-life emotions with created narratives, atop a varied indie-folk soundtrack, to create an album that is diverse yet cohesive and relatable to everyone who listens.

Album opener ‘Selfish’ is a powerful, teen angst anthem, lyrically finding the line between self-love and selfishness whilst exploring the challenges and demands of the world on young people. FINICK ‘hopes to reach the people who seek escape through music’ – this track is one to belt out in your room with the door closed.

Throughout the album, FINICK really shows us their versatility musically, vocally and lyrically. ‘Busy & Bored’ thrusts us into Country/Americana, while ‘Bigger Than Us’ explores psychedelic dream-folk with light, echoing vocals and rippling guitars.

Sweet harmonies and whimsical whistling make ‘The More You Wait’ a refreshing, summer song that blends folk-pop with honest storytelling.

Mixed genres and mixed emotions; FINICK is blending everything they know to produce an album that is beautifully real and ready for everyone. Weekends In Purgatory is out now.
