Manchester’s Mere Amore are a pretty new band, yet they’ve already had their debut single Paranoia played on BBC Radio 6, and are making their Manchester Punk Festival debut this year.

Get to know them below, and make sure you go check them out so you can say you were there from the start!

Firstly, how did you all meet and when was Mere Amore formed?

We all met as students in freshers at music venues and clubs around the city! Through our shared love of music and queer, alternative culture, we quickly formed the band and began performing in February 2024.

For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?

We would describe our sound as energetic, messy, crazy, and manic, but there are also some beautiful aspects to what we do.

If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would you choose?

We would, of course, recommend our debut single PARANOIA, or our new release, which will be coming very soon!!

What can we expect from your set at MPF?

You can expect to get your heart shattered and put back together again, along with lots and lots of energy.

Are there any other bands on the line-up you’re particularly looking forward to seeing?

We are excited to see Single Mothers and Strung Out, and we can’t wait to discover lots of new music and gain some inspiration from the punk scene.

What else are you up to this year?

We have lots of gigs lined up at lots of new venues, which we cannot wait for, including Loop Fest in Shrewsbury in the summer!  We have a release of our new single MICROMAC coming up in a couple of weeks from now, which is also very exciting!

Thank you so much to Mere Amore for answering these questions. Manchester Punk Festival takes place 18-20 April 2025 – full details and tickets here
