The absolute icon that is Peaches will be bringing her teaches to London and joins CMAT as one of the headliners for Wide Awake Festival.

Peaches by Paul Grace

Peaches has been a groundbreaking feminist musician, producer, director, and performance artist for over two decades and her message has never lost its relevance. I had the absolute pleasure and privilege of seeing her perform in a tiny club in Brussels some 15 years ago and I cannot wait to see her again. From her breakout single ‘Fuck the pain away’ via collaborations with Kim Gordon, Iggy Pop and remixes on Romy‘s solo album, she has been the mainstay of electronic music scene and her performances are legendary and range from a theatrical spectacle to a body-thrashing karaoke with her fans.

Elsewhere on the line up, Luvcat will bring the air of mystery to SE London. With a name inspired by her love of The Cure to singles like ‘Dinner @ Brasserie Zédel’, Luvcat has amassed a cult following. Her sounds instantly takes you to a smoky jazz club and her tales of fated romances are both on the nose as well as relatable.

Fans of electronic post punk will enjoy Sextile – an LA via NY group fronted by Melissa Scaduto and Brady Keehn. After a brief hiatus following a tragic death of their synth player, they returned in 2023 with their album Push and their sound evolved to incorporate hardcore dance music, with the hallmarks of drum & bass, gabber and trance – bring glowsticks and your best 90s rave getup (I also recommend rewatching ‘Human Traffic’ to get in the mood) and we will see you in the rave tent.

‘Egg punk’ band Snõõper sound like hell of a fun. The Nashville band are known for not taking themselves very seriously, bringing papier-mâché props on stage with them and giving a backpack-mascot to an audience member to carry around during the performance. Sounds like a hoot.

Wide Awake General Admission tickets are on sale from £59.50 with payment plans available.

Wide Awake takes place on Friday the 23rd May in Brockwell Park. 1 day, 6 stages, 50+ bands. Perfect way to start a Bank Holiday weekend.
