Dirty Blonde is a Manchester Duo alt-rock band is full of swagger, spice, and a whole lot of grunge. With new single ‘Polly’, Dirty Blonde explores the complexities of falling in love with in-your-face vocals and grunge pop guitar riffs.

Polly you’re a heartache in a Brontë story
Thought that we were okay but my minds distorting
I’m paranoid you’re the music
I’m a part of the noise

Lyrics from ‘Polly’ by Dirty Blonde

Some may imagine falling in love to be a gentle trip, but Dirty Blonde asks if its a hard push into the romantic abyss with dirty notes and catchy beats in ‘Polly.’

When asked what the inspiration behind ‘Polly’ was, Dirty Blonde said:

“We wrote ‘Polly’ about that messy, crying on your bathroom floor, unpredictable side of falling in love that no one talks about. Someone can give you all the reassurance in the world but how do you know that it won’t all come crashing down?”

Their sound is so fun, and their vocal tonality reminds me of another favorite alt-rock band who often sung about heartbreak – The Killers.

Made up of Ailis Mackay (vocals, guitar, drums) and Hayley Tait (guitar, backing vocals), Dirty Blonde brings fresh new spirit to a nostalgic sound not only through their music, but also through their DIY ethos as they film all their music videos themselves.

Enjoyed ‘Polly’ and can’t wait for more? Well, get excited because Dirty Blonde’s upcoming EP Looking for Trouble will be releasing on 17 April 2025!

In the meantime, if you just can’t wait, you can always check out their YouTube series, In Bed with Dirty Blonde, to get behind-the-scenes access to the band. Fingers crossed we will see Dirty Blonde sing their new songs on the festival circuit!
