Tokyo, we’re coming: LOUD WOMEN’s first Asian fest lands at Shinjuku MARZ

LOUD WOMEN is heading to Asia for the very first time.

On Saturday 14 November, we’re taking over Shinjuku MARZ, Tokyo, alongside our pals at Too Hot to Be Cool, with nine brilliant bands connecting DIY scenes from Tokyo, Seoul, the US and the UK.

We’ve got Seoul death-punk disco from 18Fevers, Tokyo garage-punk veterans Akabane Vulgars on Strong Bypass, queer Kentucky glam-punk from The Daddy Sisters, Tokyo livewires THE JUNGLES!!!, London/Japan garage-punk heroes Mikabomb, queer feminist punk from Molotov Princess, LA dream-punk from Siam Jem, Derry/Glasgow alt-rock from Sister Ghost, and gloriously raw Tokyo garage rock from Vampire Bats.

This is exactly what we want LOUD WOMEN Fest to do: bring brilliant local scenes together with artists travelling from elsewhere, make new connections and build the kind of international DIY community that doesn’t give a toss about borders.

After 11 years of LOUD WOMEN gigs and festivals across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, taking the Fest to Tokyo feels like a pretty bloody exciting next step.

We’re presenting the night with Tokyo rock-for-climate crew Too Hot to Be Cool, and any additional profits after artist fees and event costs will go to WildAct, a women-founded organisation in Vietnam empowering local women in wildlife protection.
