NYC’s Maddie Regent’s sound is all about embracing your inner teenage girl. Taking everything that makes people call you “dramatic” and “emotional” and owning it. Her new single, ‘The Wolf’ is no exception.

“If you’ve ever been betrayed by a man, this one’s for you” – Maddie Regent

‘The Wolf’ is an indie-pop ballad about running into someone you used to know.

The 80s style synth in front of a punchy drum beat gives the song an upbeat feel, but when you listen through, the layers start to peel back, and you get some really personal, heart-breaking lyricism. When these two merge together, you end up with this perfectly bittersweet energy, with the excitement of moving on in life, mixed with the fear of the past rearing its head.

‘The Wolf’ is a really wonderful love letter to that mid 2010s bedroom and indie pop that exploded through websites like Tumblr, and I can’t wait to hear what Maddie Regent does next.
