NYC- and LA-based alt-pop duo Fake Dad are Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford. Their latest single ‘Touch Me’ is a somber, yearning piece, and the first to be released from their upcoming debut album.

Less upbeat and more poignant than their previous offerings, ‘Touch Me’ would not feel out-of-place on a Mazzy Star album. The string instrumentals are Pixies-esque, and De Varona’s vocals have a lilty, keening quality reminiscent of The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan. These qualities from a bygone era are perfectly fitting with the song’s theme: the melancholic feeling of life passing over too quickly, and using intimacy as a way to stay rooted in the present.

The heady, cyclic chorus and hazy outro are sure to be a hit when performed live, with their soothing, ambient quality and textured blend of sound.
