As we crawl out of Girl Goblin Fall, some of us need a moment to have a Sad Girl Summer. Enter North East London resident Jodie Nicholson with her new album, Safe Hands.
Out now via Quiet Crown/Absolute, Safe Hands is twelve songs of brooding and foreboding realizations. Don’t ask me to choose my favorite, it’s a heart-wrenching struggle!! Ok fine, ‘Bad Dream.’
*insert swoon*
Safe Hands album is an open call for all the lonely hearts. When asked about the inspiration behind the album, Jodie Nicholson states,
“The concept of being in ‘safe hands’ really spurred me on throughout the making of this record as a reminder that I can actually do these things: I can be the sole-producer, I can record in a recording studio and I can collaborate with session musicians. It felt so right as the backbone for this body of work and chapter in my career as an artist and a producer, so naturally became the name of the album. It weirdly became a holistic outlook on the whole project.”
This is only chapter two for this burgeoning Pop Synth Queen and if its this lovely, Jodie Nicholson I absolutely cannot wait to see what you do next!
