Glasgow doom-punks Brat Coven have released their new single, ‘Favourite Crime’, and it might just be their most powerful song yet.

‘Favourite Crime’ is Brat Coven’s first release since they released ‘Ready to Kill’ in December 2022, and sees the band experimenting with alternative tunings, and a heavier sound. They are heavily influenced by riot grrrl bands like Bikini Kill and Bratmobile, and sound-wise they bring to mind the likes of Witch Fever, Skating Polly, and Acid King.

The band explains that, lyrically, the song explores themes of being taken advantage of as a teenager and predatory age gap relationships:

“We wrote this song for ourselves, for our younger selves, for anyone whose story is told by this song. Sexual abuse and grooming is rampant, particularly in the music industry and we think it’s incredibly important to use our voices to speak out and condemn predatory men.”
