Basel-based band Moonpools released their latest EP Hide and Seek.
Moonpools’ cinematic and bittersweet sound is infused by shoegaze, indie-rock, and dream pop.
Focus track ‘Say Anything’ showcases Moonpools’ multidimensional sound and songwriting that pulls you into a particular moment. Singer and guitarist Marcie Nyffeler shares the following about ‘Say Anything’:
“’Say Anything’ is a conversation between two people. One shares their insecurities and doubts, the other expresses their understanding and shows that they are there to support the other and loves them unconditionally. Sometimes you don’t even have to say anything, you understand each other without uttering a word. The hopeful synth goes straight to the ears and the distorted guitars sweep the listener away. Distorted and catchy, loud and inviting.”
Hide and Seek is a beautiful EP that’s dreamy, bright, and comforting. There’s something familiar yet new with Moonpools’ classic shoegaze sound. Hide and Seek is just a preview of what’s next for Moonpools and the ever evolving genre of shoegaze.
