Great things happen when great people come together. In 2021 Maude Vos and Marie Nyx co-founded Delusional Records. Their experience of feeling like the token person at times on labels and compilations, inspired the duo to create a home to all LGBTQIA, female-identifying, nonbinary and BIPOC artists. When ‘In The Club Out’ was written, they knew they had something special. The idea to have as many LGBTQIA+ artists to remix the track was set in motion. Chub Rub label boss Baby Weight was tapped, and her remix is featured here today.
Baby Weight’s remix is sleek, dark and beautiful like an arrowhead cut from obsidian. She brings the heat as waves of intricate electronic layers land with NASA precision. There’s plenty of ear candy to go around. Pulsating pounding sub bass is guaranteed to drive the dance floor into a frenzy. I would describe Marie Nyx’s main vocal line to be the verse. Of the three times the vocal verse plays, Baby Weight keeps things fresh by adding more electronic layers to each passing verse.
The song has a great message. During the covid lockdown, we lost the sanctuary that the dance floor gives so many. The club is a like second home to some and can feel more like home than home to others. That’s why the lyrics really resonate. The lyrics boldly state to the world who we are, where we are. We are in the club, and we are in the club out.
