A very special #VideooftheDay today from one of my personal favourite bands of all time, The Breeders. ‘Go Man Go’ is a previously unreleased track that’s come to light during the remastering of the band’s seminal album Last Splash for its 30 year anniversary reissue. Short and sweet but awash with the warm spume of Last Splash – melodic, raw, surf rock – there’s no other album this super cool track could have sat on. The resurrected song comes with a brand spanking new video featuring Kim and Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson all in fine fettle and giving us a tempting taste of the live shows they have planned.

(15-year-old me spent an unhealthy amount of time my 1993 bedroom obsessing over Last Splash, drinking in every perfect song, a taste of Hawaii in a Battersea council flat; doing my best impression of the Deal sisters’ warm melodies and harmonies, and working out Wiggs’ basslines on a knackered acoustic guitar. So 45-year-old me is ridiculously excited to hear ‘Go Man Go’, which fits so perfectly with the rest of the album.)

There’s another unreleased song to come yet too: ‘Divine Mascis’, a version of ‘Divine Hammer’ with lead vocals provided by Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis.

To celebrate the 30 year anniversary, Last Splash (pre-Order Here) has been remastered from the original analog tapes – previously thought to be lost.

AND the band have announced a run of US shows in September performing Last Splash in its entirety.

As if this news couldn’t get any more pleasing, they’ve only gone and booked the amazing Belly to support them.
